Gah.
It's been some time since I actually posted anything of substance. In the past?
Bought a car. Nissan Altima, since the previous car was also a Nissan, lasted me 11 years, and until the past year or two only had one time where there was a problem with it (a recall because of a faulty gasket in the wiper motor that caused the motor to get wet and short out). It'll be a pleasant shock to the ol' bank account, having the car payments again (after several years of not having them). On the other hand, new car! Unfortunately, the dealership a) forgot to do the initial inspection (though we have 7 days to get the inspection done on a new car), and b) when converting the interior from cloth to leather, on the passenger-side front door the plastic plate that holds the door lock and window switches has the clips to anchor the plate to the door on one side, and the holes for the clips to lock into on the other side, resulting in a free-floating piece that's only anchored by the cables for the switches. My wife gets to take the car back to the dealers this morning to address those issues.
(As an aside,
voddiegirl? There's enough room in the trunk now for
geordieyankee, if you were to come over for a visit. Just sayin', that's all.....)
Work continues to provide medium-grade suckage. $boss has certain standards he wants to strive towards (in responsiveness to users, replying to and dealing with user tickets, etc.). Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be taken to heart by absolutely everyone, resulting in tickets that still don't get covered, and me to slip on projects because I've constantly got my head in the ticket queue (the fact that RT is unbelievably slow in the web interface isn't helping any). However, this one's easily addressable, as long as I have the discipline to not constantly keep working in the ticket system, and actually set aside time for projects (or more specifically, set aside time to troll the ticket queue and work on new stuff, and spend the rest of the day on older tickets and projects).
Our daughter is getting very good at saying things now -- my in-laws' golden retriever is now actually 'Maggie' instead of 'meeemeee'. Had a bout with another ear infection a couple of weeks ago, but that seems to be thankfully over now. Bedtime has also moved to somewhere in the 6:30 to 7:00 neighborhood, so we've actually been able to have some dinners as a whole family, instead of "feed daughter at 5:00, get her ready for bed at 6:00, wife and I eat at 6:30."
Between the changes in diet and going to the gym, I appear to have dropped a good 10 lbs. Pants are starting to get pretty baggy on me, and I've actually had to get a new belt because even with the old one on the tightest notch I could still just pull my pants down without problem at night when getting ready for bed.

I am not getting in the boot
