When I am made king

People that talk about 'critical paths' will be flogged, and put out in front of a convoy of cement mixing trucks with cinderblocks welded to their feet to clarify the concept.

People that talk about 'critical paths' as it relates to projects that they have not told people that are expected to do work on timelines will have the cement mixing trucks replaced with rabid wolves.

That is all.

UPDATE: So this morning, I come in to find that there has been a reply to the original "critical path" e-mail. The executive summary? That the fourth change to the disk layout and configuration for this server is under dispute (1. "Don't worry about external disk, or connecting it to the SAN." 2. "We need, like, 100 G of disk, like now. Do I need to talk to your manager?" (Yes, meatpuppet.) 3. "72G of internal disk will be fine, lay it out like this." 4. "The 72G of disk is fine, but rip it all apart, and lay it out like this." 4.5 "But, why do we need to re-lay it out?"). On the one hand, I'm happy that this came out *before* I bothered to waste any time on this, but on the gripping hand, I have a sneaking suspicion that at some point today, they'll be dragging me into a meeting where I'll be told to produce the 100G of disk from the round 2.

Just keep repeating to myself -- B's game tonight, UK on Tuesday. B's game tonight, UK on Tuesday.

Failure to communicate or plan on their part does not make it an emergency on your part.

Thanks. A friend found it and pointed me at it, so I stole it. This one too. :-)
