Has anyone read this? Is it worth getting?

Looking to spend holiday gift cards, and this sounds interesting, but I'd like more then a dust jacket perusal before making the purchase.

I haven't read the book, but it's on my to-read list based on their NY Times blog, which I do read.

I have not. I keep thinking about reading it, so now basically you have to, so you can tell me if it's any good....

I read it. It was fun, in a "Oh, why didn't I think to look at it that way" kind of way, with the caveat that you may say "Yeah, it's obvious to look at it that way" about some of those things if you have a tendency towards lateral thinking anyway. Even then, though, it was still well written enough to be interesting.

It's decent. Very readable, some interesting ideas.

Of course, while it sounds very convincing as you're reading it, there's a post out in Internetland somewhere (I'm pretty sure it's by Daniel Davies, probably on DSquared Digest) pointing out that things aren't always as clear-cut as they make it seem, and there may be other stories you could tell using the same data.

Yeah, my impression of it is highly negative, probably from reading a bunch of Daniel Davies' posts about it.

A friend of mine at work read it, and found it extremely interesting. It is also, apparently, full of crap, bull crap, and outright lies.

I thought it was fascinating, fwiw.
