Or, evenings, at any rate.
Got home from work to find everyone upstairs in the bedroom of our three year old, R. She'd just gotten up from her nap, and had quite a fever going. We eventually made our way downstairs, where she watched TV and had some water, thoroughly miserable. After much coaxing (and crying on R's part), we at least got to try and take her temperature by having her hold the (digital) thermometer under her arm, and saw that the temperature was over 101 degrees. Unsure if this was actually a valid way to use this particular thermometer, we gave her some child's motrin and worked at having her eat and drink some as she'd not really eaten anything all day long.
After a couple of bites, however, we ended up just a couple of steps short of the nearest receptacle.
After several minutes on the floor with paper towels (not to mention finally getting her to cooperate and let us take her temperature the "right" way (also over 101)), we ended up at the pediatrician's office to verify that it was, in fact, just the flu (or maybe something viral), and she'd be missing out on her class's field trip tomorrow.
